To satiate the hunger for a unique experience that every foodie in the capital had been seeking, Sanadige had been imported from Bangalore by MGR group. Now after 10 months gone by, Sanadige seems to have done a good job in providing an experience which can only be termed divine by those, who have been fortunate enough to dine in at their outlet at Chanakyapuri, Commercial Centre. It’s rather upsetting to not find this restaurant among the top in the radar meant for the best of the best that is in the city, although it certainly deserves a place right up there.
Sanadige is a ‘Tulu’ term for the word ‘lamps’ and as if staying true to its name, the restaurant creates a fairyland kind of set up during the evenings. With lamps adorning the walls and the name ‘Sana-Di-Ge’ shining bright, their outdoor seating is mesmerising. The restaurant is stretched over three floors with an outdoor seating that comes to life during the evenings. The place consists of a fully functioning bar located on the 2nd floor and a glass lift to take you across the floors.
The ambience is a perfect touch of class amalgamating with cultural highlights, giving rise to a posh faultless décor. The chandelier and the artwork are impressive additions to the restaurant makes dining an experience.
Apart from the Coastal starters and Coastal main course, Sanadige offers regular North Indian and Chinese too. However, when you visit a place like Sanadige, it is best to stick to what they are best at. So, the Sea Food Platter and Yeti Platter are definitely a highlight here but you need to remember just two things before ordering these delicious mouth-watering platters. One: You need to have a palate for authentic Sea Food and Two: The Sea Food is subject to availability or in short – if it is caught, it is bought.
If sea food is not your cup of tea, the ‘Ghee Roast Chicken’ is immensely impressive. This one is marinated in mysterious spices and is roasted in pure Ghee. Mushroom Pepper Fry, Mamsa Da Sukka (lamb preparation), Kerala Kozhi Roast (chicken preparation) and even the ‘Paneer Ghee Roast’ tasted divine.
The menu for the Main Course section is as vast as for the Starters and among the endless list, Vegetable Stew, Kori Kundapuri and Mangaloreon Mutton Curry tasted fantastic and went very well with the assorted bread.
But what excels beyond words is the dessert Sanadige so effortlessly serve to their diners. We are talking about the ‘Elaneer Payasam’ here. It plays the role of a show-stopper in a way that leaves you awe-struck. If you do enjoy the taste of coconut milk, this Payasam is certain to tickle your taste-buds. The Payasam is prepared entirely out of Coconut Milk and the Malai. It is simply terrific.
We have heard that diners come to Sanadige to have this particular dessert even after completing their meal elsewhere. Says a lot.
With a seating capacity that can accommodate more than 100 diners at once, skilled staff with a humble demeanour, posh ambience and eclectic spread of cuisines ranging from authentic coastal to regular North Indian, Sanadige is a place that deserves the attention of those seeking a fine-dine experience like never before.
Sanadige is among the highest rated restaurants on Zomato and yet, its location does not look perfect, making it a tad bit difficult for those looking for easy commuting. However, if the taste is what you seek, Sanadige will impress your palate to an unfathomable extent with dishes from the coastal belt of Karnataka and the Western Ghats.
