In the small talk with Kahajaun, the founder Vani Dhall gave us inside info about her label.
How would you describe your Label Vani Dhall?
The label celebrates the Indian Women of today: contemporary yet rooted to Indian origins, offering a select range of ensembles thoughtfully envisioned, designed and styled to suit every occasion.
Which type of audience/shoppers should definitely visit your online store?
We love to dress up women from all walks of life. Women who are looking for exquisite and elite bespoke ensembles. Our motto is ‘Don’t blend in, Stand out’ and if that is what you aim at, we are your go-to label!
What type of Collection do you have?
We design ensembles as per the season and as per the occasion our client demands. Our forte is Indo-Western and Pret wear, a breather from the boring mass-manufactured styles.
What is the price range of your designer outfits?
We offer ensembles for a range between Rs.2000 – 30,000/- so there is plenty to choose from, providing ace designs without burning a hole in your pockets.
How did you end up being a designer?
My parents are from the fashion industry, mom has her own studio for over a decade now and dad is a textile engineer too. So fashion is something I have grown up with and the moment I cleared my boards in XII, I knew what I wanted to be.
What is the favorite part of being a fashion designer?
It is rewarding to see clients happy in your ensembles, understanding and delivering what they want! I have always loved styling my cousins and family growing up, I guess nothing much has changed since then, now I do it professionally!
Which designers have been the biggest influences on you?
With so much talent in the industry, it is impossible to point out a few, everyone has a fabulous unique style, on a personal level, I have worked with Rahul Mishra and Shivan & Narresh, so I think they honed my skills and widened my creative horizon in helping me identify my style.
What aspects of the fashion industry would you like to change?
Fast fashion! It’s so meaningless and toxic! Fashion seasons are fading and textile quality is going down rapidly, in turn, impacting the environment too., it’s become a rat race. Fashion should be about timeless pieces, detailing and quality not quantity.
