In a small talk with KahaJaun, Label Mad sam Tin zin’s co-founder, Madhuritu aka MAD gave more information about the flagship store.
How would you describe your Label Madsam Tinzin?
Cofounder: MadSamTinZin brings together the distinctive experiences and talents of four young designers through a uniquely collaborative design process that is all about their love for quality and craftsmanship, expressed through the interplay of fabrics in flattering silhouettes. The Brand strives to interpret age-old embroidery techniques inherited from different regions of the country and bring out the exquisite nature of their surface ornamentation. They believe in a striking yet simplistic approach to design. With a keen eye for drawing inspiration from the simplest of natural forms to the most complex motifs, their collections unabashedly celebrate life, beauty and human emotions at its purest.
Which type of audience/shoppers should definitely visit the label MadSamTinZin studio?
Cofounder: We like to believe that Madsamtinzin has something for everyone! Having said that, I would like to add that it definitely is a label for people who love delicate hand embroideries, simple yet versatile silhouettes that can be restyled and overall an ensemble that is not over the top.
What type of Collection do you have?
Cofounder: For the wedding shoppers, we have a range of options to add to their trousseau, bridal lehengas, shararas and saris. We have a special range of classic kurtas and jackets for men as well. Apart from these one can find caftans, pashmina shawls, hand-embroidered bags that make perfect gifting items.
What is the price range of your designer outfits?
Cofounder: Our starting range for festive women’s wear is 40000 and for men’s wear 20000.
What type of ambiance you have created at the Mad Sam Tin Zin flagship store?
Cofounder: Our flagship store is a space that’s created to echo the essence of the brand. It’s contemporary with bohemian elegance. The ambiance of the store accentuates and does not overpowers the collection, much like our clothes that does not overshadow but enhances the wearer’s personality.
How did you end up being a designer?
Cofounder: The brand is a joint effort of 4 creative minds who met while studying fashion in NIFT. A college dream that was never forgotten instead brought to life through passion and friendship.
Personally, for me it started with my love for art and creating something new. From designing clothes for dolls to restyling my mother’s clothes on myself, I had chosen my dream early in life.
What is the favorite part of being a fashion designer?
Cofounder: The process where your imagination turns into a tangible creation is exciting but to watch your clients believe in it or fall in love with it, is very rewarding.
Which designers have been the biggest influences on you?
Cofounder: This industry is full of inspiring people and stories but over the years, there are two Indian brands whose journey has constantly inspired me is SANJAY GARG’S RAW MANGO (for its deep-rooted ideology) and Sabyasachi (for being a visionary and creating an empire from scratch and introducing fashion as a career to many young minds).
What aspects of the fashion industry would you like to change?
Cofounder: Its less to do with the industry and more about the consumer. love for craftsmanship and quality over Constant expectation of coming up with “something new”every few months will be a pleasant change.
