In a small talk with KahaJaun, the founder and creative head Bhavika gave insights about her label DOUS.
How would you describe your Label DOUS?
DOUS, is a brand that is termed as sober, sedate, royal, luxury and grand. Its the brand that brings out the true fashionista in you and your family, that sets you glam and urbane at the same time. Dous garments are crafted with pure passion and love by highly skilled artisans and karigars. When you think of finesse, royalty, glam and sober DOUS is for you. It was established in year August 2017. Our brand encourages nurturing ideas and allowing our clients to understand and create a self that the garments become an extension of their personality.
Which type of audience/shoppers should definitely visit your Rajouri Garden store?
Shoppers who really believe in royalty, glam and luxury, who believe in attention to details and looking for a one-stop destination for contemporary, fusion and Indian couture. Someone who has a love for soft and intricate details and exquisite fabrics and always up for some magical touch with silhouettes.
What type of Collection do you have at DOUS?
We have women’s clothing that caters to contemporary, fusion, Indian modern silhouettes such as sarees, crop top skirts, tunics, pret shirts with intricate embroidery details, coord sets with exceptional silhouettes, couture gowns that brings out the red carpet look, drapes that give you a royal look, jumpsuits, and tops for our fashionable women.
What is the price range of your designer outfits?
The cost varies from Rs 4500 to Rs 80000 and rest as per customized ones.
What type of ambiance you have created at your store?
We have given our store a royal luxurious blend that depicts softness and glam at the same time, with royal vintage wallpaper giving up a luxurious feel and rose gold touch to our assets with a complete luxury feel.
How did you end up being a designer?
I was always into creativity, new things, art, details, beauty and experiment and fashion is something that is perfect to showcase your functionality with design and details. I am a NIFT pass out then experiencing the European market during my job days and then beginning up with my brand brought me here.
What is the favorite part of being a fashion designer?
At DOUS, the favorite part of being a fashion designer is creating beautiful embroideries with quirky silhouettes and blending them up resulting in an exclusive collection that makes one fall in love. Our process allows clients to understand and create an innovative self that would bring out a true fashionista in themselves. It’s a journey that adds on and makes it unique and it’s own.
Which designers have been the biggest influences on you?
Chana Marelus, Anamika Khanna, Manish Malhotra, atelier Fernando claro, Elie Saab, have influenced and urged more in me for their intricate design approach.
What aspects of the fashion industry would you like to change?
I would like fashion to become more sustainable and ethical.
