About Dr. Zakir Hussain

Dr. Zakir Hussain was a great loyalist and a secular leader of high academic and moral distinction. He was a teacher by profession and all through his life supported the source of education in the country, which is marked by his connection with Jamia Milia Islamia University, Aligarh Muslim University, and numerous other educational institutions. A well-known educationalist and scholar in true intellect; Dr. Hussain were also the receivers of India’s highest honor, Bharat Ratna apart from several prestigious awards presented to him.

This museum was established in 1972 as a mausoleum in remembrance and honor of late Dr. Zakir Hussain, the third President of India and to preserve all the memorabilia of this great leader. The Zakir Hussain Museum was in fact built to display the great craving of this soulful leader of India who constantly strived to satiate his thirst for added Knowledge and as of his faith contributed vastly in the field of education and propagated the significance of education in India. The museum also showcases all the impressive Awards received by Dr. Hussain with pride. Besides his special belongings, the museum also homes a compilation of very interesting and exciting geographical specimens.

The museum is situated at Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Marg, Jamia Nagar, Okhla, New Delhi- 110025 (Inside Zamia Milia University). The adjoining metro stations to this museum are Jasola and Okhla metro stations via the Violet Line.

Timings of Zakir Hussain Museum

You can plan a visit to this museum on any day of the week amid Saturday and Thursday. The museum remains closed on Fridays. The opening and the closing timings are 10 am to 5 pm.
