Shri Ram: Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra’s Ramayana Dance-Drama

Shri Ram is one of Delhi’s longest-running festive traditions, now in its 69th year. Sumitra Charat Ram created it in 1957, and it has since played to more than 25 lakh people in India and 35 other countries.
The 2-hour-15-minute production follows Tulsidas’s Ramcharitmanas, from Ram’s birth and exile to Lanka and his coronation. It blends Indian classical and folk dance.
This year is a special edition. After nearly 25 years, the Kendra has brought the production back to its traditional form:
- handmade sets and newly made costumes
- classical stage lighting
- lyrics restored to the original chaupais of the Ramcharitmanas
It runs every evening right through Diwali, so it’s an easy one to fit around the weekend’s other plans. Families with children are a big part of the audience, and it works well for grandparents too.
📅 When: Daily at 6:30pm, 11 October to 1 November (including 16, 17 and 18 October)
📍 Where: Open Air Theatre, Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra, 1 Copernicus Marg, Mandi House
