The Manganiyar Seduction | Delhi

Director Roysten Abel’s acclaimed music-theatre piece seats three generations of Manganiyar musicians from Rajasthan inside 33 veiled compartments framed by carnival lights. As each curtain opens, a new performer joins the swelling sound of khamancha, Sindhi sarangi, algoza, dhol, dholak and morchang. The set draws on Jaipur’s Hawa Mahal and Amsterdam’s architecture. First staged in 2006, it has played over 700 times in more than 20 countries.

Delhi Tourism’s classical dance festival returns for a second edition, with three evenings of solo, duet and group performances against the walls of Purana Qila. Kuchipudi masters Raja and Radha Reddy and Malaysian Odissi veteran Ramli Ibrahim lead the bill, joined by Kathak dancer Shama Bhate, Bharatanatyam dancer Vaibhav Arekar, Mohiniattam and Kathakali artiste Pallavi Krishnan and Manipuri dancer Latasana Devi. A special programme, Shiva, brings together an ensemble of male Bharatanatyam dancers.

Euphoria Live at Raahgiri Day
