Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi has introduced a new cultural initiative called “DEL Vibes,” designed to enrich the passenger experience by bringing the essence of Indian heritage to the airport environment. Managed by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which is led by the GMR Aero consortium, this innovative program is a first for any airport in India.
“DEL Vibes” ensures that travellers, whether arriving from within the country or abroad, have the opportunity to engage with the arts, traditions, and crafts that define India. The activities are available across all terminals and run daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., transforming waiting times into memorable cultural experiences.
The program is built around three main aspects: music, dance, and interactive workshops. Visitors can watch live performances featuring classical dance styles like Kathak and Bharatanatyam, as well as listen to traditional musicians playing instruments such as the sitar, santoor, sarangi, and tar shehnai. In addition, hands-on sessions allow passengers to try their hand at various crafts, thanks to demonstrations and workshops led by skilled artists.
Beyond entertainment, DEL Vibes aims to make the airport more welcoming and relaxing, particularly for those flying for the first time. By providing a calming and culturally rich environment, the initiative helps reduce travel anxiety and adds another dimension to the airport experience.
This new effort builds on Delhi Airport’s tradition of highlighting Indian art, such as the famous mudra sculptures at Terminal 3, the grand Surya Namaskar statue, and rotating exhibitions of notable Indian artists.
With DEL Vibes, Indira Gandhi International Airport seeks to offer more than just a travel hub—it strives to be an inviting space where the diverse cultural tapestry of India comes alive for every visitor.
