The NDMC is excited to announce its annual Tulip Festival, the #NDMCTulipFestival, which will take place from February 14th to 26th, 2023 at Shanti Path, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The event welcomes the arrival of spring with the blooming of over 1.24 lakh Tulip bulbs, which were imported from the Netherlands and planted in the lawns of Shanti Path and other lawns across the NDMC area in January 2023. This year’s festival is even grander, as the number of tulips has doubled to offer a more stunning display of the city’s beauty.
The festival’s timing coincides with the G20 Foreign Ministers meeting scheduled for March 1st and 2nd, 2023, allowing the visitors to experience the international event with a local touch.
Visitors to the festival can participate in various events, such as guided tulip walks on February 18th, 19th, 25th, and 26th, and a photography competition that runs from February 14th to 24th, 2023. The guided walk content is developed by the “Give me Trees Trust” (GMTT), an NGO known for its contribution to landscaping at Sunder Nursery. The walk highlights the historical monuments of Shanti Path, the history of tulips, and the various types of tulips that are currently growing at the Shanti Path.
The photography competition invites participants to submit photos of the planted tulips, with the winners being selected and uploaded to NDMC’s social media platforms. The best-judged photograph will be awarded at the end of the festival. The competition’s rules and regulations are available on the NDMC website.
Overall, the festival is a must-visit for anyone who wants to witness the vibrant colors and beauty of spring in New Delhi.
