Tribal Museum, Delhi

The tribal people in India are the most neglected clan and the Tribal Museum is an initiative by Late.Sh.Amritlal Vithal Das Thakkar to uplift this clan from the problems they face in their day-to-day lives. The tribal museum is an initiative to bring into the light the hardship of the tribal people and the initiative which must be taken for their social-cultural and economic development.

The tribal museum is also known as Thakkar Bapa Smarak Sadan. This place showcases an extensive collection of tribal artifacts and life size dioramas (a model representing a scene with three-dimensional figures) depicting the livelihood of the tribals and how they have been coping with their day-to-day struggle. This place is famous for those who have extensive interest in understating the tribal way of life and they can get extensive information by visiting this place. This tribal museum was built in the year 1948 to commemorate the hardship of the tribes and how they can get along with better education and development to survive the competitive environment.

The nearest metro station to reach this area is Jhandewalan on the blue line of the Delhi Metro. You need to exit from Gate No.4 and walk straightway to the museum.

 

Entry Fees

For Indian citizen, the entry fee is Rs. 10, whereas, for foreign nationals, the entry fee is Rs.100. For children who are below 10 years and those who are disabled, they need not pay any fee for getting entry into this place.

 

Entry Timings

The museum is open for public discourse from 11:00 A.M to 14:30 P.M. You can always pick the best timings and slots and accordingly you can plan out the trip.
