The Mandir has been named as Malai because of a combination of mountains and hills with the Mandir. In Tamil, the word Malai means hills and Mandir means temple. Dating back to the history, it is said that the temple came into existence in 1961 following a dream by one of his devotees in which Swamiji said that a temple would rise above the hill-locks and would transform into his abode. The specialty of this temple is in its making, like other temples in the world, it has not been constructed but assembled. You can witness the charm and the aura of south temples in this temple.
